Safe Driving in a Work Zone

Are you planning a road trip this spring? Don’t let a work zone accident impede your adventure. Driving into a roadway work zone can be annoying but if you don’t pay attention and following the signs it could be your last trip.

Did you know:

  • More than 40,000 people are injured each year in work zones

  • 1 in 3 work zone accidents are rear-end collisions

  • Every 10 hours there is a fatality in a work zone and every 13 minutes there is a work zone accident.

With the most frequent work zone crash being a rear-end collision, watching the traffic ahead of you and maintaining an adequate following distance is important in order to avoid them. Speeding is also a significant problem but even just going a little over the limit can increase the risk of an accident.

Remember that work zone conditions can change throughout the day and being attentive and following speed limits and flaggers can save your life and the lives of those around you.

We wish all of you happy travels as you head out on your own adventure.
